  • Marine Grade Plywood
    Marine grade BS 1088 rated mahogany plywood with excellent finishing qualities. Available in 4’ x 8’ sheets in the following sizes:

  • Western Red Cedar Wood Strips
    Planking forms the body of your vessel, it must be the best! We hand pick every piece so you don’t have to bother about butt joints or knots. We even include extras, just in case. Colours vary, so you can design the pattern you want including any accent strips along the waterline or shear. Precision milled planking is bead and cove (Item G1).

Pre-milled Boat and Canoe Parts Back to Top

  • Gunwales
    Gunwales are pre-milled from long lengths of Ontario grown hardwood (Ash), unvarnished and ready to install. Sizes available are Ύ” x Ύ” in lengths from 10 to 19 feet (Items C22-1 – C22-2). Also available are outer gunwales with a routed lip suitable for wood/canvas canoes where the gunwale must cover the outer top edge of the canvas. Also available in lengths from 14 to 19 feet (Item C4b)

  • Keels
    Keels are pre-milled from Ontario hardwood (Ash), unvarnished and ready for quick installation. Various sizes and lengths are available to suit the type of craft (Item C23)

  • Canoe Planking
    Canoe Planking is pre-milled from Ontario White Cedar and available in various lengths up to 10 feet in sizes 5/32” thickness x 4” widths (Item C251)

  • Canoe Ribbing
    Canoe Ribbing suitable for replacement ribbing in wood/canvas or wood/epoxy coated canoes cut from Ontario clear White Cedar makes it easy to shape to the particular hull configuration. Available in 5/16” thickness x 2-3/8” – 3” widths and in lengths of approx 5’ (Item C231-232). An excellent reference for canoe repairs or building a new wood canvas canoe is The Wood and Canvas Canoe by Jerry Stelmok and Rolin Thurlow (Item E1) .   • Canoe Yokes and Thwarts

    Canoe Yokes and Thwarts are in Ontario Ash, unvarnished and ready fro installing. Yokes are available in three styles: regular flat wide 36” contour (see photo YS) (Item C27a) or in a deluxe ‘dished’ 36” style (see photo YW) to match the contour of the neck and shoulders (Item C27b) or a deep dish with padded shoulder and adjustable clamps (see photo YU) for easy installation and removal (Item C26c). Canoe thwarts (see photo T) are also premilled in 36” and 39” lengths, ready for varnish and quick installation (Item C26)

  • Canoe and Skiff Decking
    Canoe and Skiff Decking is available in various styles that include a simple piece of ash blank 1” x 8” x 36” sufficient for two decks (Item C25); in a lengthy tapered ash style of Ύ” x 7” x 14” – one seat (Item C25a) or as a tapered deck with a middle spline of walnut or mahogany measuring Ύ” x 10” x 16” (Item C25b)

  • Bow and Stern Stem Laminates
    Bow and Stern Stem Laminates for wood strip canoe, skiff and dinghy construction consisting of thinly milled ash strips for easy glue laminations suitable for both inner and outer stems measuring Ό” x Ύ” x 48” for Canoe Stems (Item C25ai) and Ό” x 1” x 48” for Dinghies and Skiffs –Cosine Wherries and Nutshell Prams (Item C261). We supply a variety of handcrafted canoe seats all made with ash including dowelled joints for strength. Material ranges from simple lacing to traditional native style ‘Babiche’ woven Caribou webbing.

  • Fine Open ’Real’ Cane Canoe Seats:

  • Woven Nylon Webbed Canoe Seats:

Wood/Fiberglass Cleaners and Paint/Varnish Removers Back to Top

  • Wood Cleaner, Brightener and Restorer:
    Our Cleaner and Restorer (Item H1) is a two step process. When used with our Brightener (Item H2) will restore badly weathered (grey or blackened) wood revealing a ‘like new’ surface luster ready for final finishing. Using this product we have restored canoes and runabouts to a new factory look using one or two applications. For badly stained or weathered surfaces we recommend using our Marine grade Stainless Steel Scrubber (Item H4). Works on all woods, especially oak and teak.

  • Paint and Varnish Remover (PVR):
    Popular with the builders our industrial strength PV remover, is water washable, safe to use on almost all materials. Available in a 4 liter can. Also available is in smaller containers is Dad’s Pro Marine Paint and Varnish Remover, a non-flammable professional marine solvent that will remove paint, polyurethanes, varnishes, stains and epoxies. Includes a handy sprayer (Item H3a).

  • Epifanes Fiberglass Prep-Cleaner:
    To ensure optimum adhesion on primer and enamels to a fiberglass surface it is necessary to remove all waxy residue. Degrease by wiping the entire surface with Fibreglass Prep-cleaner, repeat this process 2-3 times, renewing your rag constantly (Item H5).

Wood/Fiberglass and Metal Primers and Sealers Back to Top

  • Epifanes Multi Marine Primer and Sealer:
    A one part multi purpose primer offering excellent adhesion to wood, fiberglass, steel, stainless steel, aluminum, galvanized metal, and most other bare or painted substrates. Excellent grain filling and corrosion prevention over steel combined with exceptional covering capability and high build. Use with any one or two part top coats. (Item N4d).

  • Epifanes Werdol Wood Primer and Sealer:
    This product has excellent filling and sanding properties over wood surfaces and provides exceptional adhesion and strength for subsequent one part paint enamel coats. Available in white or grey (Item N7b). It’s also highly recommended as a primer/sealer applied over Canvas Filler (Item N6i) prior to the final finishing in wood/canvas canoe work as you will use less paint and have a hard and smooth professional look to the finish.

  • Epifanes Fiberglass Primer and Sealer:
    This is a one part adhesion primer based on alkyd/urethane resins on bare fiberglass or epoxy to enhance the adhesion of paint to both fiberglass and epoxy as well as filling any sanding marks or surface scratches prior to painting (Item N10pw). It’s recommended that the surface first be cleaned, degreased with Epifanes Fiberglass Prep Cleaner (Item N8c).

  • Epifanes Epigrond Prelacquer Primer:
    A very strong metal coating primer and under coater for steel and aluminum. High build, good sand ability, excellent adhesion for one component enamels and mono urethanes. (colour – white) 750ml. (Item N8d).

  • ‘Ouator’ Brand Metal Polish:
    Not only cleans, but also polishes, protects and preserves all surfaces including bronze, brass and chrome against tarnish, water stains, rust and water corrosion. Ouator Brand Metal Polish contains an anti-tarnish protector, which keeps on working guaranteeing months of free maintenance. This specially formulated agent out performs all other metal polishes making Ouator the choice of professionals. (Item H7).

  • Canoe & Kayak Performance Coating:
    Glide coat reduces hull friction for easy paddling and increased speed – uv protection seals out dirt and gives a high gloss show room finish. 450m. Eco-friendly. (Item H31PC).

  • Rubbing Compound and Finishing Kit for Paint, Fiberglass and Epoxy:
    Easy 3 step process to deal with oxidized surfaces, removal of over spray & wet sanding scratches on conventional an high tech finishes leaving a surface gloss and ‘polished’ look . The Kit includes a 946ml liquid rubbing compound; a 16 oz liquid finishing polish (Item H1006) with a 3 pk Swobbit Terry Towels and a 3pk Swobbit Flannel Polishing Cloths (Item H016).

  • Rubbing Compound and Finishing Kit for Varnish:
    As marine spar varnish coating is not as hard a finish as some paints – it’s flexible –therefore a careful approach is required to remove over spray and sanding scratches.     A paste wood filler that can be thinned with Epifanes Brushing Thinner (Item N8a) to the consistency of varnish and applied with a brush and when dry finish with Epifanes Spar Varnish (Item N2). Used to fill and permanently stain porous, loosely grained wood (Item H760).

  • West System 403 Microfibres:
    A fine fiber blend, used as a thickening additive with West Resin/Hardeners to create a multi-purpose adhesive, especially good for bonding wood and gap filling – cures to off-white colour. (Item K1a).

  • High-Density 404 Filler:
    A thickening additive for high stess hardware bonding also excellent for filleting and gap-filling – cures to an off-white colour. (Item K2a).

  • Filleting 405 Blend:
    Wood toned filler for use in glue joints and fillets. Mixes easily creating fillets that are smooth requiring little sanding. Cures to a brown colour. (Item K3).

  • Colloidal 406 Silica:
    Prevents epoxy runs on vertical and overhead surfaces, ideal for bonding and filleting providing a strong abrasion resistant finish. Cures to an off-white colour. (Item K4a).

  • Low-Density 407 Filler:
    Used to make fairing putties that are easy to sand or carve. Cures to a dark red brown. (Item K5a).

  • Microlight™ 410:
    creates a light, easily-worked fairing compound and is easy to sand. Cures to a light tan colour. (Item K6a).

Bedding and Caulking Above and Below the Waterline Back to Top

  • Sikaflex Marine Adhesive & Sealant (291 Lot):
    Slow cure – tack free 3 hours, full cure 5 days, 1 part multi-purpose polyurethane marine sealant/adhesive bedding compound for fittings and hardware above or below the water line. Especially good for caulking and seams, stem/keel bands on stripper or wood canvas canoes, sandable and paintable and available in white, black or mahogany. (Item L1a-c).

  • Sikaflex Fast Cure Marine Adhesive and Sealant (291):
    An excellent sealer and is designed for use above or below the waterline. Its fast cure rate makes it ideal for boatyard or boat repair use tack free in 60 minutes and full cure in 3 days, available in white or black. (Item L2a-b).

  • Sikaflex Marine 292 Adhesive:
    A high strength adhesive, seals large gaps and can even replace rivets, screws and mechanical fasteners available in white. (Item L5a).

  • Sikaflex 290 Marine Deck Caulking:
    A high UV resistant sealant for deck caulking and waterproofing. (Item L4a-b).

  • Sikaflex 295:
    For acrylic and windows, combines the right elasticity with consistency to maintain bond-like thickness. Ensures that thermal movements in plastic glazing panels are absorbed without stresses. (Item L6a).

  • Dolfinite “Type” Marine Bedding Compound:
    A heavy bodied compound for bedding in keels, transoms, mouldings, shaft log and deck hardware. Stays flexible and strong in changing atmospheric conditions. Profiles a waterproof seal forever and joint and fitting. (Item L2005G).

  • Davis “Slick Seam” Underwater Seam Compound:
    An effective and ready to use. For new wood planking use with oakum or caulking fiber is tamped into seams. For previously caulked seams use direct into seams and as caulking material for keels, sticks to wet or dry surfaces, allows for flex and expansion of planking, applies easily and cleans up fast, can be painted. (Item L13).

  • Bristol Sussex Caulking Cotton:
    Traditional style white cotton caulking # 1 grade 210 feet available in 1 lb (1/2kg) bags. (Item L65).

  • Caulking Cotton:
    White strand top quality caulking cotton made up of 8 strands totaling an uncompressed diameter of approximately 5/16” (8mm) used in transom work, planking and keel work available in 1 lb (1/2kg). (Item L7).

  • Best Navy Oakum:
    A traditional navy oakum steeped in Stockholm tar and generally used for caulking below the waterline, due to its high durability. (Item L6).

  • Caulking Iron:
    A traditional cast malleable iron with polished blade Size #00, length 5’;width 2”, thickness 1/32”, malleable. (Item L9).

Fibreglassing, Taping, Canvassing and Filling Supplies Back to Top

  • Valene Coated Fibreglass Cloth:
    A medium density fiberglass cloth for use with epoxy and polyester resins as a reinforcement when laying up or repairing a damaged area or as a fabric for wood epoxy building projects where high saturation and invisible coatings are inportant. Available in 6 oz., 60" width (Item M1a) or 6 oz., 38" width (Item M1c).

  • Glass Reinforcing Tape:
    Ideal for reinforcing hull-deck corners, boxes, seams, chines, keels and bulkheads. With epoxy, provides strength to resist hairline cracks and abrasions. Easy to use with an unravelling edge it’s available in the following sizesand sold by the yard: 9 oz. x 2” (Item M3a); 9 oz. x 4” (Item M3b).

  • Kevlar Skid Plate Kit:
    Includes 2 pc pre-cut Kevlar felts for bow and stern, adding protection to Kevlar, Fiberglass and ABS boats and canoes, Epoxy resin and hardware, gloves and instruction (Item M8). Also available are Kevlar Skid Plates measuring 32” x 3-1/2” and tapering to 2” sold by the set of two (Item M8pl).

  • Canvas “Duck”:
    No.10 unbleached, 60" wide (equivalent to 14.75 oz.) x 2 ply. This size will do most canoe jobs economically. For measuring, please add 2 feet to the length your covering e.g. a16' canoe requires about 18' length of canvas. (Item M4a).

  • Canvas Webbing Pliers:
    The hammer jaw acts as a lever when a strong pull is required, durable and comfortable for the hand this excellent tool makes it easy for a one person job of stretching canvas and allowing the other hand for tacking or stapling. 8 Ύ” length (Item M7).

  • Canvas Filler:
    this is a specially formulated full-bodied oil primer sealer with high hiding. High solids for maximum film buildup, controlled penetration and flexibility, overall creating a strong bond between the topcoat and the substrate. This material has excellent adhesion to canvas and provides a firm base for paint. The good news is that you no longer have to wait weeks for the filler to cure, estimated cure times is approximately 72 hours. Available in 4L container colour is white (Item M6i).
    (Instructions are included and it is also recommended that a primer coat of Werdol Epifanes Primer be applied over the filler once it has dried - see Item N7b).

Fiberglass, Kevlar, Royalex Repair Kits Back to Top

  • Kevlar and Fiberglass Canoe and Kayak Repair Kit:
    Includes material to repair a fracture or puncture up to 8” wide x 12” long. Included in the kit is a 12” x 16 ½” Kevlar cloth, 12” x 38” 1 oz. Mat, Derekane resin, Hardener and instructions. (Item M7-2).

  • ABS/Royalex Repair Kit:
    Includes three 100 gram packages of Royalex repair resin, 1 sq. fit of Kevlar cloth and instructions. Good for damaged area approx. 1” x 6” or less. (Item M9).

  • Royalex Repair Resin:
    A 2-part resin/glue used for filler for gouges and scratches and glue for major repairs on Royalex/ABS hulls. 100gram packet. (Item M10).

Marine Specialty Glues, Epoxies and Applicators Back to Top

  • Marine Resin Glue:
    A handy easy to use wood glue which sands easily and is water resistant. Recommended for gluing up planking, laminating stems in Wood Strip Epoxy work as well as a host of other wood projects (Item I1).
    Also recommended are Reusable Plastic Syringes for use with marine resin glue – especially good for wood strip hull planking or epoxy resins for injecting into tight spots such as cracks, scratches or blister repair or hardware bonding. (Item I2).

  • West System G/5 Five-Minute Adhesive:
    An easy to use, 2-part resin/hardener system for quick repairs and general bonding, can also be used to hold parts in position while standard epoxy bonds cure. Bonds to wood, fiberglass and metal and cures in 3-5 minutes. (Item IG-5).

  • Handy West Repair Pack:
    For everything you need to complete small repairs around the boat. Includes two 16-gram tubes of West System 105 resin, two 3.2-gram tubes of hardener, and 3.5 grams of high-density filler, application brush, mixing stick and step-by-step instructions. (Item I3).

  • Maxi West Repair Pack:
    Includes six 16-gram tubes of 105 Resin, six 3.2-gram tubes of 205 Hardener, 6 grams of low-density filler and 4 grams of high-density filler, two application brushes, one syringe, four mixing sticks, one pair of disposable gloves, four cleaning pads, four mixing cups and instructions. (Item I4).

  • West System Resin & Hardener Packs:
    Pre-measured 6-13.75ml of 105 Resin and 6-2.75ml of 205 Fast Hardener packets for making small batches of epoxy for minor repairs or coating jobs, includes instructions (Item I101T) Also available are individual packets containing one Resin and one Hardener. (Item I101Tpk).

  • West System 105 Epoxy Resin:
    A clear, light-amber, low-viscosity liquid resin, formulated to wet out and bond with wood fibre, Fibreglass and metals. Curing in a wide temperature range, it can be sanded and shaped afterwards, permitting a natural finish with varnish or paint. One gallon (Item I7); One quart (Item I6).

  • West System 206 Slow Hardeners:
    An ideal product for the homebuilder allowing a slow cure process of up to 10-15 hours yielding a rigid, high strength, moisture-resistant solid with excellent bonding and coating properties. (Item I9 – I10).

  • West System 205 Fast Hardener:
    Produces a rapid cure in 6-8 hours and is recommended for working in cool temperatures with the same qualities as the 206 Hardener. (Item I12-13).

  • West System 207 Special Coating Hardener:
    Highly recommended where an exceptionally clear, moisture resistant natural wood finish is desired. Resists clouding in humid conditions. Easy to use and three coats or more can be applied in one day without additional surface preparation between coats. Besides excellent wetting out characteristics it won’t drain on vertical surfaces. Cures in 12-18 hours. (Item I15-16).

  • West System 300 Mini Pumps:
    Takes guesswork and mess out of measuring and mixing. Dispenses resin and hardeners in proportions and saves epoxy by preventing waste. (Item J1c).

  • Epoxy Mini Roller and Tray:
    Includes a plastic roller tray and two phenolic core rollers designed especially for applying epoxy resins (Item J4a) Also available are Epoxy Mini Roller Refills with an additional tray includes 2 rollers. (Item J4b).

  • West System 803 Glue Brushes:
    Handy ½” x 6” glue application brushes with a metal handle and used in a wide variety of small bonding and coating applications. (Item J5).

  • Chip Econo Resin Brushes:
    Inexpensive resin brushes with a wood handle and 100% pure bristle brush for applying epoxy to wood, fiberglass or fabric surfaces. Available in widths of 1” (Item N65a) or 3”. (Item N65).

  • West System Plastic 808 Spreaders:
    These are flexible 31/2” x 6” double edged spreaders for flow coating, fairing, filling and applying fabrics. Reuseable. (Item J6).

  • Disposable 832 Gloves:
    Provide excellent protection when using epoxy and are more puncture resistant than conventional disposable gloves. Large size fits most. (Item NJ7a-c).

Specialty Wood Marine ‘Spar’ Varnishes Back to Top

Please refer to Section H; Wood Cleaners, Restorers and Sealers for choosing the correct primer and fillers prior to applying paints and enamels.

  • Epifanes Clear Gloss Varnish :
    Recommended for the highest quality work having an extremely durable UV shield, high build and superior gloss finish. Formulated with a high solids content of Chinese tung oil, combined with non-yellowing, modified resins make it a terrific varnish for all climates. Can be sprayed or brushed. 1 litre covers 14sq.m. (Item N2 –1000ml) and (Item N2a – 500ml). See complementary Epifanes Brushing Thinner (Item N8aa) and Spray Thinner (Item N8ab)

  • Epifanes Wood Finish Gloss:
    For use where a glossy, varnished look is desired. Excellent adhesion to new teak and other exotic woods both for interior and exterior use above the waterline. Requires no sanding between coats. One liter covers 130 sq.ft. (12 sq.meters). (Item N4 – 1000ml) and (Item N4a – 500ml)

  • Epifanes Rapid Clear:

  • Epifanes Rapidcoat Varnish:
    A semi-gloss finish with a teak tint for all woods including teak and other oily woods, preventing discolouration with a high UV protection and emphasizing the natural grain of wood with out sanding between coats. Can be sprayed or brushed 750ml covers 10sq.m (Item N4c)

  • Epifanes Wood Finish Matte:
    Provides a UV protected rich satin sheen finish (non-reflective coat) for exterior or interior use with excellent resistance to moisture, chemicals and abrasion. Finest results are achieved by using this over Epifanes Woodfinish Gloss or Clear Gloss Varnishes. Can be sprayed or brushed 750ml covers 12sq.m (Item N5)

  • Epifanes Rubbed Effect Interior Varnish:
    Provides a lustrous hand-rubbed finish with excellent resistance to moisture, chemicals and abrasions giving an air of quiet distinction to boat interiors. Application over bare wood apply several coats of Epifanes Clear Gloss varnish and then finish with Epifanes Rubbed Effect Interior Varnish. 750ml covers 12sq.m (Item N3)

  • Deks Olje:
    Protects wood against sun, wind and foot traffic; easily maintained between seasons with soap and water. Use #1 for a natural finish. For brilliant gloss finish, apply #2 over #1. QT #1 (Item NLD02), QT #2 (NLD02a).

  • Epifanes Yacht Enamel:
    The mirror-like gloss, colour retention and intensity of this enamel surpasses the traditional. Its longevity, surface hardness and flexibility proves it is the ultimate finish for wood, and also works well on fiberglass, steel and aluminum. Epifanes Enamel is a one-component yacht coating based on modified alkyd resins. Can be brushed or sprayed on the appropriate Epifanes Primers and Sealers. Also available are Epifanes Mon-urethane Finishes that provide an exceptionally hard urethane abrasion and chemical resistant finish with outstanding gloss, durability, colour retention and UV protection.   • Epifanes Non-Skid Deck Coating:
    One component semi gloss urethane-alkyd resin based deck paint containing polypropylene beads as a non-skid agent. Finishing coat for wood, steel, aluminum and fiberglass in conjunction with the appropriate primers. For exterior and interior use above the waterline. Excellent colour retention cleans easily and stands up to rough wear. Available in #1Cream (Item N6bc); #212Gray (Item N6bg) and White (Item N6bw) with coverage 750ml – 10sq.m.

  • Epifanes Nautiforte:
    A high gloss, one component paint, based on a pure, non-yellowing, silicon modified alkyd resin with exceptional flowing abilities, non-yellowing colour stability, long lasting gloss, weather durability and minimal dirt retention. Can be used on wood, fiberglass, steel, aluminum in conjunction with the appropriate primers. 750ml covers 14sq.m. Available in White (Item N6cw); Oyster White (Item N6cow) and Off-white (Item Ncow)

  • Epifanes Varnish and Paint Brushes:
    Highest quality, traditional European styled brushes. Hand set and chiseled pure Chinese bristle. Each hair is split to produce optimum softness. Old world quality for those who demand the best working tools. These are available in the following styles:
    • Style Round:
      A Dutch tradition. Using a turning motion while cutting an edge always gives even flow of product. The volume of bristle gives great holding capacity. The chiseled shape ensures accurate paint spread. Sizes 3/8” (Item N10mm), 1 ½” (Item N14mm)
    • Style Full:
      Elliptical, similar to a flat brush but with rounded edges. Ideal for paint or varnish application. Sizes 1 ½” (Item N50mm), 2” (Item N55mm), 2 Ό” (Item N60mm) and 2 ½” (Item N65mm).

  • Select Varnish and Enamel Brushes:
