  • Ash Motor Mount (P1c)
    Reinforced ash motor mount, clamps to gunwales on skiffs and canoes with easy to use phenolic knobs and stainless steel hardware and finished in high ultra-violet protective spar marine varnish. Made exclusively for electric or gasoline motors. Also available is the Heavy-duty Aluminum Motor Mount with varnished maple clamping block for both electric and gas motors (Item P1d).

  • Heavy Duty Aluminum Mount (P1d)
    A handy durable motor mount for heavier motors includes maple clamping block with phenolic black knobs and stainless steel hardware.

  • Anchor Outrigger (P1i)
    The Anchor Outrigger is terrific for fishing or photography allowing for quick and easy one-handed lowering and raising of a small anchor. It’s easily adjustable to any canoe or skiff by simply clamping the varnished ash arms to the deck and gunwales with durable phenolic knobs. All hardware is stainless steel and the hardwood ash arms are treated with high ultra violet protection marine spar varnish.

  • Slide-on Canoe Seat Backrest (P1f)
    Great for long cruises and leisure paddling, this sturdy ash and caned backrest attaches to any canoe seat with durable black phenolic adjusting knobs. Sliding clamps keep it snug to the seat and needs no extra mounting hardware. Finished in premium spar marine varnish with high ultra-violet protection. Note: also available is Item (P1ff) enabling the backrest to be easily fold down and slide into two under seat side supports when not in use. (Item P1f)

  • Sliding Bow Seat Kit (CSBK/S)
    The Sliding Bow Seat Kit when installed allows the bow set to be adjusted fore and aft along two brackets 34” long. Brackets are easily mounted to the gunwales with two “U” shaped brackets that allow the seat to slide. Included are stainless steel fittings and hardwood spacers and cross pieces for attaching to gunwales. All hardwood is treated with ultra-violet protective marine spar varnish.

  • Folding Canoe Seat
    Inspired by the Peterborough Canoe Company, these chairs provide terrific back support and comfort while canoeing, enjoying a camp fire or watching sporting events. While it is designed to sit on the bottom of a canoe, it is so attractive that many tell us they keep it by the fireplace or on their deck.     A very inexpensive and convenient way to car top your canoe that works just as well as the expensive carriers. 4 foam blocks fit over gunwales of canoe, creating a cushion between boat and car. Easily stored and can be used to portage by snapping the blocks to paddles. (P1h)

    Includes 4 -7” non-skid blocks, 15’ heavy utility strap, 2-15’ bow and stern tie down straps and 4 bumper hooks.

  • Quick and Easy Car Top Canoe/Kayak Carriers (PCR)
    The Kit includes two adjustable ash carrier bars finished in weather resistant oil – available in lengths 48”; 60” and 76” . Famous “quick and easy” brand gutter style brackets bolt easily to ash bars and solidly clamps to gutters of truck or car gutters. (Item PCR)

Replacement Decals. We have reproduced a number of authentic high-fidelity replacement deck decals for those refurbishing older canoes, chief among which are those for Peterborough Canoe Co (small, oval), Chestnut Canoe Co. (small, leafy) and Canadian Canoe Co. (small gold shield with black type).

  • Original Runabout and Canoe Decals
    These authentic decals will put the finishing touch on your newly built or refurbished boat or canoe. Apply easily to wood or epoxy surfaces. Simply soak in water, apply, and then varnish over the decal.

    • Peterborough Runabout Decals:

P21 - P29: Canoe and Runabout Builders' Catalogue Reprints Back to Top

These are soft cover catalogues full of pictures and information on canoes runabouts, sailing and rowing craft. Appealing souvenirs for anyone who loves canoes and small watercraft.

  • P21: Peterborough Canoes (1995 Reprint) by Roger MacGregor
    Reprint of the 1929 Peterborough Canoe Company catalogue promoting their famous canoe line, dinghies, cedar strip runabouts. A mix of history and photos. (Item P21)

  • P26: Peterborough Reprint of the 1952 Catalogue
    The 1952 Peterborough Canoe Company Catalogue is a black and white reprint of the original no. 43 catalogue. Its 60 pages of illustrations and text explains proper boat care, construction details and 6 pages of accessories, incredible tables of details listing over 17 runabout models such as the Royal, Handy Boy, Aqua Flyer, and Admiral; five dinghies including the Pal Dinghy and Petrel and over thirty models of canoes consisting of 10 Prospector models and five Freight Canoes, plus commercial canoes and eleven cottage models. Price lists are included for all models including accessories. (Item P26)

  • P27: Peterborough Reprint of the 1959 Catalogue
    The 1959 Peterborough Catalogue is a black and white reprint of the original no. 52 catalogue and includes a section on the home and history of Peterborough watercraft. Also included are construction details, illustrations on over 16 models of runabouts such as the Monarch, Corsair, Cruiserette and Starliner series including canoes, dinghies, dories in cedar strip, aluminum, reinforced plastic and moulded plywood. A 1959 Price List and accompanying accessory list is also covered. (Item P27)

  • P24: “When the Chestnut was in Flower - Inside the Chestnut Canoe" by Roger MacGregor
    A searching look at the Chestnut Canoe Co. from nearly twenty years on the trail of the famous canvas-covered canoe from Freericton, New Brunswick. A book of travel, canoe building, canoes and memories. Includes line drawings of such canoes as the prospector, Bob’s Special, Chum and Ogilvie. Over 400 pages, 90 photographs. This big volume of canoe lore is sure to please. (Item P24)

  • P25: Canadian Canoe Co. 1894+ Catalogue Reprint
    40 pg in 9" x 6" Format this 40 page catalogue is a companion for the Peterborough and Chestnut catalogue reprints issued previously. Like them, it is a beautifully done tribute to one of Canada's principal builders of wooden canoes and runabouts. Professionally lithographed in Canada. Includes the complete version of the company's first catalogue, two pages of modern canoes from 1941 and the specification sheet for 1952. Illustrated throughout. Another beautiful and informative memento for the canoe fancier. (Item P25)

  • P23: Lakefield Boats Catalogue Reprint
    A six full colour page brochure one of the last catalogues of the Lakefield line as well as 13 black and white pages listing their early 1900’s selection. Included are cedar strip built runabouts with such names as the Ojibway, Seminole and Delaware; lapstrake models listing the Shasta, Seneca and Chinook; four canoe models, dories, rowing skiffs and the popular Shawnee Sailboat. Within the historical pages over 25 different models of cedar strip runabouts are listed as well as canoes and rowing skiffs. (Item P23)

  • P29: Canoes, Row Boats, Etc. The Wm. English Canoe Co. Limited, Peterborough, Canada. Established 1861
    A reprint of the original 1918 catalogue that includes descriptions and photographs of various open water pleasure and racing canoes including freighters and war canoes as well as rowing skiffs and outboard motor runabouts. Also included are construction details for each craft, prices and accessories. The introductions also provides a history of both the Company and its people. (18 pages). (Item P29)

    The Canadian Canoe Company depicting a circa 1908 illustration of a female angler in a birch bark canoeing originally on the Company's Catalogue in a natural colour with illustration in black. All sizes are available (Item P13).

  • P12: Chestnut "Prospector's Model" T-shirt:
    As a base the pure white T shirt shows off the vibrant ink colours laid over the design lines for the Chestnut Prospector with name of the canoe company in fancy script beneath. Material is 100% cotton and pre-shrunk in Sizes:P12-1);

  • P14: Bob’s Special T-shirt:

  • P2ij: Canoe Poster "Peterborough Canoes - The World's Finest Watercraft"
    High quality reproduction of a broadsheet originally put out by Peterborough Canoe Co. c. 1922 showing a dozen Peterborough canoes and other details of construction and design. 24” x 18" In colour. Professionally lithographed in Canada. Item (P2ij)

  • P2ijkl: Fine Arts Lithograph: Old Canadian Bark Canoe (c. 1755)
    Rare and beautiful watercolour and ink reproduction – 16”x 23" - of a very old drawing (thought to be c. 1755) showing lovely plan and elevation views of a native Canadian bark canoe with serpent ornamentation. The captioning indicates, among other things, that the canoe was used for pleasure and fishing outings by the King of France, apparently Louis XV. The drawing was found in the National Library of France by a French canoe enthusiast and is now beautifully reproduced in high quality for fanciers around the world. Intended for framing and just plain admiring. (Item P2ijkl)

  • P2ijk: Fine Arts Lithograph: 'Chestnut Summer'
    A beautiful, high quality poster combining appealing images from the early days of the Chestnut Canoe Co. Background is artist's impression of lady paddler done in tones of soft blue-grey. Colour images imposed on this include the Chestnut Canoe Co. canoe decal (1960s), the original Chestnut patent paper (1905) and the cover of a rare catalogue (1913). Professionally lithographed in Canada. Also beautiful for framing or dry mounting.

  • P2ijkm: AFTERGLOW (New!) - Decorative wall Poster, Peterborough Canoe Co.

  • P3d: Classic Boat Hooks
    These boat hooks are available in polished bronze, brass or chrome plate will complement your craft as well as a practical tool for picking up fallen objects or grabbing dock lines. Available in various sizes and materials:
    7-1/2” L for 1-3/8” pole in brass or chrome (Item P3d1)
    7-1/8” L for a 1” pole in brass or chrome (Item P3d2t)
    6-3/4” for 1-1/8” pole in brass or chrome (Item P3d3)
    8-1/4” for a 1-1/8” pole in polished bronze (Item P3d2wc)
    Please note: Item P3d2t has strap ends for mounting, the others have “cone” ends.
    Also available are rounded ash stave poles in lengths from 5 to 10 feet are available (Item P3d4)

  • P3e-f: Boarding Ladder Bracket
    Boarding ladder brackets are available in cast polished bronze or with chrome plate and are sold as a set and includes two durable brackets/arms approx 10” front length overall with inner back portions approx 3-3/4” overall, two bronze eye plates with four fastening holes suitable for mounting on decks and transoms. Brackets are ready for installation and for longer ladder lengths, hinges are also available to enable the bottom piece to be lifted and set against the upper ladder and held with a spring loaded button with plate – (Item P3e-f). Ladder plans are also available.

  • P90: Wooden Ladder Fittings in Brass
    Boarding ladder fittings are also available and economically priced in brass and include two brackets approx 5-3/4” x 7/8” overall and two eye plates for bracket support approx 3-3/8” x 1-1/8” x 1/2” suitable for mounting on the side of the hull. Hinges and spring-loaded button plates are also available for ladder extensions. (Item P90)

  • P3g: Brass Ship's Bell
    Two polished brass genuine naval ship’s bells providing a clear crisp sound are available in two sizes: 6” base x 6-7/8” height (Item P3gl) and a smaller style 4-1/8” base x 5” height (Item P3gs). Included are brass mounting brackets and both can be inscribed (please allow 2 weeks for inscriptions) such as a boat’s registered name, a personal gift or special date (Item P3ga).

  • P3h: Bosun’s Whistle
    Nicely boxed for a gift, these whistles are nicely finished in brass and include a brass neck and chain as well as producing a traditional high sound that continues to be heard today on vessels. (Item P3h)

  • P3m-n: Traditional Brass Fog Horns
    Two sizes of polished brass fog horns with a nylon black mouth piece are available: 13” long (Item P3m) and a larger 15-1/2” (Item P3n). Also available are polished brass Megaphones available in lengths 8”; 14” and 17”.

  • P4ci: Cargo Lamp
    Electric model with c/w CSA socket, spare chimney.

  • Windproof Anchor Lamps
    These sturdy lamps have a burner with a baffling to protect the flame even in the worst storm conditions. Available in polished brass or copper. This is similar to the lamp that went with Sir Francis Chichester's Gypsy Moth world voyage. 4" x 3" lens. Copper, Brass. (P4a)

  • Port & Starboard Navigational Lights
    Hand crafted in Holland DHR polished copper, these lights are built for heavy sea conditions and therefore can withstand inclement outdoor use or alternatively set an attractive marine environment for any cottage or home. Both are available with as an electrical fitting (Item P4b1) or as oil (Item P4b2). Both are available with a red/port and green/starboard lens or a white lens. The overall height is 9” by 6” wide; Lenses are 2-3/4” x 4”.

  • P4c: Trawler Lamp
    Built in Denmark under the official “DHT” brand, individually numbered, the Trawler Lamp is solid brass, hand lacquered so it needs no polishing available as electric or oil (Item P4c). Also available is a Junior Trawler Lamp in oil or electric (Item P4ce).

  • P4cd: Clipper Lamp
    Handcrafted in Denmark under the official “DHT” brand, each lamp is individually numbered, hand lacquered so it needs no polishing and is available as electric or oil (Item P4cd).

  • P4e: Gem Gimbal Lamp
    British made from polished brass, the fount (kerosene base) is weighted to maintain a vertical alignment and it comes with a ½” burner and chimney. Overall height 9” with a projection of 6” (Item P4e). A brass gimbaled arm is also included for mounting. Also available is a brass smoke shade and adjustable arm and is recommended to protect the deckhead from the heat of the lamp. Arm is 6” long and the shade diameter is 4” (Item P4earm).

  • P4h: Teardrop Berth Light with switch
    This traditional berth/cabin light is cast in highly polished brass in a smooth and pleasing teardrop shape and is fitted with a brass toggle switch and the glass is frosted and includes a bulb holder and bulb. Size: 5 -3/4” high x 3” wide with a projection of 2” (Item P4h).

  • P4g: Brass Bracket Light with switch
    Cast in polished brass, this cabin light comes with a brass toggle switch, frosted bell shaped glass and a bulb holder and bulb-max 18w. Size: 5” height x and projection of 5” (Item P4g). Also available in chrome.

  • P4g: Miniature Brass Bracket Light
    Cast in brass with a highly polished finish, this lovely cabin light comes with a frosted bell shaped glass and a bulb holder and bulb-max 18w to be switched remotely. Size: 4-1/4” height x and a projection of 3-1/2” (Item P4g) . Also available in chrome.
